Today’s squad well everyone bar Tom and Louie who were unfortunately away.

First just saying well done you all. You have come a long way from the team that got well beat at the start of the season. To end with a positive goal difference, highest points for two years and you beat the teams that finished 2nd and 3rd.

It was a fantastic day for a presentation. The sun was out a few beers and a kick around to Finish. Nick went through all of the players saying a bit about you all. I will write another blog over the next few week giving tips on what to work on for each of you next season. But lets go the main winners.

Top Goal Scorer : Gabe, Excellent first season even scored with his left foot.

Players Player: Faizan, Another debut season and won people over with his constant drive in midfield.

Managers Player: Edonis, Our third debutant winner, he has been a rock at the back and chipped in with some excellent goal. Most improved player over the season.

After the formalities it was game time. The Dads plus who ever else we could coax in played the team. Dads took an early lead through a Kenny Gibb beautiful curled in corner that found the far post. The response was furious from the Herons but Big Nick Rember ably helped by Malcolm and Darren they held firm at the back. Nick showed the boys how to do a headed clearance and even sacrificed his sunglasses for the cause. With Waj and his silky skills in midfield we were giving them a game. However after a bit of pressure Gabe managed to run one in to make it 1.1

The Dads didn’t let there heads drop and Shaban was unlucky a couple of times, but the pressure was building a Beckham-ess ball from myself found Hotshot Gary Reynolds who buried his goal (Now that’s how you finish Tom LOL). With Five minutes to go we started to fall deep, a bit of tiredness setting, more due to dehydration (Heat/Beer you choose) than anything else (yeah right). The Herons got the Equalizer 2.2 sorry cant remember if it was Faizan or Tom but i think it was one of you. The last three minutes were played at a premiership pace with chances at both ends but no one could find that moment of skill. Final score 2.2 with Dads retiring to a well earned beer!

Really good game, great fun and thanks to everyone for taking part. I am already looking forward to next season and have already bought some new equipment for fitness ……….

A team from a higher division, However we were just as good if not better……

Today was the last friendly of the season and it was a small squad due to the back holiday weekend.

Tom, Theo, Morgan, Edonis, Joey, Joel, Connor, Louis, Faizan, Reynolds, Gabe and Jonathan.

It was a warm but rainy last game on a good pitch, that was wide and long it also had massive goals !! The first 5 minutes we started well with Gabe and Reynolds pressuring there back four alot. Against the run of play they broke down the left, We had a couple of chance to clear/block the attack but once they got in the penalty box any half decent shot would score and they did 1.0

You kept your heads up and continued to play some neat triangles and decent balls into the box. finally after 20 mins we got the goal your play had deserved. Gabe broke down the left and got to the byline before hitting a cross/shot with his left ( Yes his left) that flew in the beyond the back post. 1.1

We still had a few half chance but didn’t quite get our shots away in time, also we need to play a bit less straight down the middle. Jonathan was unlucky when he drove the ball back towards goal after they cleared the initial free kick. Just before half time they broke down the right and the ball fell to their striker via a deflection. Unlucky 2.1

Second half started the same as the first with you on the front foot and after ten minutes you got the goal your play deserved Faizan was fed the ball and ran on towards goal. He looked like he would easily score but put it at the keeper which rebounded back to him at pace which he managed to bundle in the second and more difficult chance 2.2

Tom made a couple of decent saves and swept well at back playing that “Neuer” roll. Faizan was unlucky with another long shot and should of probably scored when put through again. However the Referee gave a strange decision saying Gabe was offside (which he was) but he wasn’t interfering with play as he never got the ball. Gabe hit the Corner of the goal with a great shot from outside and Reynolds should of hit the target when played in. With five minutes to go Jonathan gave away a free kick. The ball was won by us but we didn’t clear properly, the ball ricocheted back inside to where the had 5 men waiting and they made no mistake 3.2 Full time came round quickly after that so final score was 3.2

MoTM: First thanks Tom for going in goal today. The two wing backs Theo and Joel are getting more use to there roles and this showed in there play also Joel was a lot stronger in the second half. After that i felt Louis & Connor both had a strong game in center of midfield, both got forward to create and both got back to tackle and close men down. So i will give it to them jointly.
